About the The Forum at 343 East 74th Street
A 25-story residential condop on the Upper East Side of New York City, The Forum sits midblock on 74th Street, between First and Second Avenue. It was completed in 1986 and opened to residents in 1987. It has 148 apartment units, from studios to three-bedroom apartments. Studios start at 550 square feet (51 m2), and three-bedroom penthouse units reach 1,900 square feet (180 m2). The top five floors form a penthouse complex.
Elliott Vilkas designed the tower, which people often notice from a distance because of the pronounced sloping curtain wall on its south side. That sloping glass wall was designed to give the duplex and triplex units on the top floors optimum light. The massing is unusual for a midblock building: roughly half of the frontage is set back to make a small plaza on 74th Street, with arched windows two stories high at the base.
The Forum stands about halfway between First Avenue and Second Avenue, while taller Manhattan buildings are typically at an avenue corner because of zoning restrictions. It has the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on one side and the Jan Hus Presbyterian Church on the other. The lease on the land, held from the church next door, covers 149 years, 1987 through 2136.

- A sloping upper wall
- The slanted wall near the top is the most distinctive shape on this tower. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep the slope smooth rather than stair-stepped, and printing slowly helps the stepped lower levels stay crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- The The Forum at 343 East 74th Street is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The The Forum at 343 East 74th Street takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
