About 175 Water Street

The office building at 161 Water Street, which was formerly called 175 Water Street, stands in the Financial District, in Manhattan, New York City. It is also called the Water Street Associates Building. Fox & Fowle designed it, and it was completed in 1983. National Westminster Bank leased the whole building before it was finished.

Three commercial buildings from the 19th century had stood on the site. In 1982, while the new building was under construction, an archaeological excavation uncovered an 18th-century ship. Parts of the ship, along with other artifacts, ended up at the Mariners' Museum in Newport News. AIG bought the building from National Westminster Bank in 1995, and it became AIG's headquarters in 1996. The firm moved out in 2021 and moved to 1271 Avenue of the Americas, a new headquarters. The building has also hosted parties and fashion shows.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 33 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 42 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 53 mm 1:2,344

Rounded, stepped crown
The top of the tower is rounded and steps in. A layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keeps the curve smooth.
Tall neighbors close by
Tall buildings stand close around the tower in the model. A larger print size keeps the gaps between them easier to read.
One piece with the ground
175 Water Street is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 175 Water Street takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
