About 50 West Street
50 West Street is a mixed-use tower of retail space and residential condominiums, developed by Time Equities Inc. in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City. It has 64 stories and stands 237 m (778 ft) tall, with 191 residential units that range from one-bedroom to four-bedroom layouts. Four floors are devoted to amenities, and an open-air private observation deck sits on the 64th floor at 224 m (734 ft).
Helmut Jahn designed the tower, whose curved glass is meant to give panoramic views of New York Harbor. The plans called for 3,000 glass panels, 500 of them curved, and the cost of curved glass can run 300 to 500 percent over that of flat glass. Jahn says that no other building has curved glass in such quantity, from the street up to the penthouse level. The curves rise as one continuous vertical gesture to the parapet's edge, and the base bows outward in a curved cantilever to open up space for Ward's Walk.
Time Equities bought the former office building on the site in 1983, and the City Planning Commission approved the tower's designs on October 5, 2007. Work began in June 2008 but stopped that fall during the financial crisis. After new permits in 2011, multilevel retail space replaced a hotel planned for the first fourteen floors, and the developers made the building flood-resistant after Hurricane Sandy. Work resumed in 2013 after financing was secured, the tower topped out in September 2015, and occupancy began in 2017.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 64 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 80 mm | 1:3,000 |

- Rounded corners, curved glass
- The corners are rounded and the glass wall curves around them. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the curves smooth rather than stepped, and a bigger print size keeps the fine horizontal lines.
- Tall, slim shaft
- The tower is tall and slim for its width. Printing slowly with good cooling helps tall thin shapes, and Print friendly adapts thin parts to the print scale.
- One piece with the ground
- 50 West Street is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. 50 West Street takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
50 West Street is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a 50 West Street STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. 50 West Street grows with the print: about 64 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
