About The Langham

A luxury suite hotel occupies part of a skyscraper with mixed uses at 400 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, on the block between 36th and 37th Streets. The hotel is called The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue. Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects designed the tower, which stands 193 m tall and has 57 floors above ground. The base, 11 floors of limestone, has a somewhat Art Deco look. Floors four through 16 hold 214 hotel rooms, and Ai Fiori, a restaurant, is also in the building.

Bizzi & Partners Development was the developer. The hotel opened in November 2010 under the name The Setai Fifth Avenue, with the Capella Hotel Group as manager. Hong Kong-based Great Eagle Holdings bought it in 2012 for $229 million and put it under the management of its Langham Hospitality Group. In May 2013 it became Langham Place, Fifth Avenue, and in December 2017 it took the name The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 52 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 65 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 83 mm 1:2,344

A tall, slim shaft
The tower is tall for its width and rises well above the buildings nearby. Print slowly with good cooling, and pick a larger print size for a sturdier shaft.
Fringed crown and vertical bands
The flat crown overhangs the shaft with a fringe of thin vertical details, and slim bands run up the sides. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Langham takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

The Langham is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a The Langham STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. The Langham grows with the print: about 52 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
