About the Consolidated Edison Company Building
The Consolidated Edison Building is a neoclassical skyscraper. Its other names are 4 Irving Place and the Consolidated Gas Building. It stands in Gramercy, a Manhattan neighborhood in New York City, has 26 stories and covers the western two-thirds of its block, which lies between 14th Street and 15th Street, with Irving Place on the west and Third Avenue on the east. Henry Janeway Hardenbergh and the firm Warren and Wetmore designed it.
The site once held Tammany Hall, the earlier Academy of Music (1854–1926) and the offices of Consolidated Gas, the predecessor of Con Ed. Hardenbergh designed an expansion of the gas company's headquarters, built from 1911 to 1914. It was later absorbed into a bigger building that Warren and Wetmore put up from 1926 to 1929. Bells weighing about 2.5 short tons were lifted into the clock tower in December 1927.
Its "Tower of Light" turned into an emblem of the local skyline, and local media lauded the design when it was finished. In 2009 the building received New York City landmark designation. It houses the headquarters of Consolidated Edison, an energy company usually called Con Ed.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- Slender clock tower
- A narrow clock tower with a small lantern on top rises above the main block. Print slowly with good cooling, and use a layer height of 0.12–0.16 mm to keep the tower crisp.
- Many small roof details
- Small blocks and ornaments sit along the roof edges of the main building. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on larger prints.
- One piece with the ground
- The Consolidated Edison Company Building is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Consolidated Edison Company Building takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
