About the Dubai Frame
The Dubai Frame is a monument, museum and observatory in Dubai's Zabeel Park, and it holds the record as the world's biggest frame. It stands 150.24 meters (493 ft) tall and is 95.53 meters (313 ft) wide. It mainly serves as an observatory, which looks toward old Dubai in the north and the newer parts of the city in the south. The frame opened in January 2018, and its earlier name was Al Berwaz Tower.
The design grew out of a competition run by ThyssenKrupp and Dubai Municipality. In 2009, the ThyssenKrupp Elevator International Award drew 926 proposals, and an international jury picked the concept of Fernando Donis as the winner. The award, first held in 1988, is an international architecture competition sponsored by a company counted among the world's leading elevator makers. Hyder Consulting, a part of Arcadis NV, then completed the final project.
Glass, steel, aluminum and reinforced concrete form the structure, and designs of the Expo 2020 logo are worked into the outer facade. Its proportions follow the golden rectangle, with side ratios of 1:1.618. An observation deck with glass-bottomed floors spans the top and joins the two towers, while the lower span holds a museum tracing the city's past and a video exhibit about its future. Visitors ride the elevator to the Sky Deck, which covers 48 floors in 75 seconds.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.
| Print size | Landmark height | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| 160 mm default | 40 mm | 1:3,750 |
| 200 mm | 50 mm | 1:3,000 |
| 256 mm | 64 mm | 1:2,344 |

- Open frame with a bridging top
- The top span crosses a tall open gap between two upright columns. Print slowly with good cooling, and use Print friendly to adapt the thin top edge to the print scale.
- Relief patterns on the faces
- Small circular relief designs cover the faces of the frame. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and Full detail keeps them on a larger print or with a fine nozzle.
- One piece with the ground
- The Dubai Frame is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. The Dubai Frame takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
About this model
The Dubai Frame is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.
Common questions
Is there a Dubai Frame STL I can download?
Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How big can I print it?
Any print size from 40 mm across. The Dubai Frame grows with the print: about 40 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
Is it free?
Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
