About One Penn Plaza

One Penn Plaza, also styled Penn 1, is a skyscraper in Manhattan's Midtown, in New York City. It stands between 33rd and 34th Streets, west of Seventh Avenue, beside Madison Square Garden and Pennsylvania Station. Within the Pennsylvania Plaza complex of offices, hotels and entertainment venues, it is the tallest building.

Kahn & Jacobs designed the tower, which was completed in 1972. It is 750 feet (230 m) tall and has 57 floors, with three setbacks, on the 7th, 14th and 55th floors. Its outer walls are gray solar glass and anodized aluminum over structural steel and concrete. Thanks to its spot on Manhattan's west side, most tenants facing south, west or north can see the Hudson River without obstruction.

Mechanical rooms sit on the 12th and 13th floors rather than at the top, which let equipment go in before the steel frame was finished and cut six to nine months from construction. The tower has 14 entrances and seven banks holding 44 elevators. A public plaza and fountain at the west end release steam in winter and fog in summer to keep water from splashing out in gusty wind. The 2011 film Margin Call was shot mostly on its 42nd floor, which holds more than 80 percent of the film's action.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 62 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 77 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 99 mm 1:2,344

Fine floor lines, tall slab
The slender tower is covered in fine floor lines and window grids. Layers of 0.12–0.16 mm keep them crisp, and a larger print size keeps them distinct.
Stepped base and flat top
The lower floors step in as setbacks, and the flat roof carries small details. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale, while Full detail suits larger prints or a fine nozzle.
One piece with the ground
One Penn Plaza is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. One Penn Plaza takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.

About this model

One Penn Plaza is one of more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around it is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shape from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions

Is there a One Penn Plaza STL I can download?

Mini Skyline builds the file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How big can I print it?

Any print size from 40 mm across. One Penn Plaza grows with the print: about 62 mm tall on the default 160 mm print. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.

Is it free?

Yes. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
