About One Worldwide Plaza
Standing in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, One Worldwide Plaza is an office tower of 50 stories, 237 m (778 ft) high, with a second address of 825 Eighth Avenue. David Childs, of the firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), designed it. Of the three buildings making up Worldwide Plaza, a mixed commercial and residential complex, it is the one farthest east. The complex fills an entire block between Eighth and Ninth Avenues and 49th and 50th Streets, where the city's third Madison Square Garden once stood.
Classical inspiration shows in the three-story granite base, the brick midsection with setbacks, and the copper pyramid roof topped by a glass lantern. That eight-sided pyramid is 150 feet (46 m) tall, with round dormer windows, and its design was inspired by pyramidal roofs of early 20th-century New York office buildings such as the Helmsley Building and the New York Life Building. Several details came from early-1930s classical designs, specifically Art Deco, and the brick facade is reminiscent of the Gothic Revival style.
William Zeckendorf Jr. led the syndicate that developed Worldwide Plaza in the late 1980s. Building materials were gathered from many places: brick from Pennsylvania, windows from Wisconsin, roofing and precast concrete from Canada, structural steel from Luxembourg, plus Brazilian granite and Italian marble. Three lobbies, each double-height, lead to separate groups of office floors, and the four elevator banks contain 22 passenger elevators plus two truck elevators. The steel frame weighs 19,000 short tons.
How it prints
Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

- A pyramidal roof with tiny details
- The eight-sided pyramid carries small round dormers and a lantern at the tip. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print. Print slowly with good cooling.
- Fine piers and shallow setbacks
- Narrow vertical piers run up the tower, with shallow setbacks along the way. A larger print size and 0.12–0.16 mm layers keep these lines crisp.
- One piece with the ground
- One Worldwide Plaza is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
- Pick the detail for your nozzle
- In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
- Colors
- Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. One Worldwide Plaza takes the building color.
- File format
- You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
