About Sydney Town Hall

Sydney Town Hall is a heritage-listed building from the late 19th century, standing at 483 George Street in the central business district of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Inside are the Lord Mayor's chambers and council offices, along with venues for meetings and functions. Its steps, above Town Hall station, are a popular meeting place.

The site was once the Old Sydney Burial Ground, the city's first permanent cemetery, used from 1792 to 1820. Prince Alfred, the Duke of Edinburgh, laid the foundation stone in January 1868, and construction commenced in 1869. A competition produced the design, in the Second Empire style, with a clock tower and four pavilions on the eastern side; the City Engineer then altered it to reduce the cost.

Stage II was redesigned in 1881 by City Architect Thomas Sapsford, who had help from John Hennessy; George McRae finished it after Sapsford died. The building opened in 1889, with electric lighting from the start. Renovations in 2008 and 2009 upgraded the building's mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and communication systems, and 6,000 cubic meters (210,000 cu ft) of sandstone was taken out from beneath it.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Clock tower and roofline
The clock tower and the decorated roofline are the finest details. Print friendly adapts them to the print scale; Full detail keeps them on a larger print.
Tight city surroundings
Taller buildings stand close on several sides. A larger print size and 0.12-0.16 mm layers keep the facade ornament readable.
One piece with the ground
Sydney Town Hall is joined to the ground in the exported file, and the four-side check found no floating parts, so nothing needs gluing.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Sydney Town Hall takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
