About Trump Palace Condominiums

Trump Palace Condominiums is a New York City skyscraper rising 623 ft (190 m) with 54 floors at 200 East 69th Street, in Manhattan's Upper East Side. It was completed in 1991. Frank Williams and Associates, a firm led by the architect Frank Williams, designed it. For 26 years it was the tallest building on the Upper East Side, until 520 Park Avenue surpassed it in 2017.

The New York Foundling Hospital had occupied the site before businessman Donald Trump bought it in 1985. Before the sale, community groups had lobbied city agencies without success to stop a high-rise from being built there. Building work started in April 1989, aiming for completion in 1991 and costing $185 million. Community groups also tried unsuccessfully to have the tower's height reduced. Frank Williams gave the tower a look that recalls Art Deco buildings from the 1920s and 1930s. Low-rise townhouses and a small plaza sit at its base, both of them part of a zoning requirement.

How it prints

Make this print opens the generator on a 600 m square around the landmark. Buildings print at close to true scale, so the landmark grows with the print size.

Landmark height and scale at three print sizes
Print size Landmark height Scale
160 mm default 50 mm 1:3,750
200 mm 63 mm 1:3,000
256 mm 80 mm 1:2,344

Stepped crown and ledges
The top of the tower steps inward in thin layers, and thin ledges mark the shaft below. Print friendly adapts these thin parts to the print scale, while Full detail keeps them on larger prints.
Tall and slender
A tall slim tower prints best slowly, with good cooling. Layers of 0.12 to 0.16 mm keep the fine vertical lines on its sides crisp, and a larger print size keeps more of them.
Pick the detail for your nozzle
In the Buildings settings, set Landmark detail to Print friendly to adapt thin parts and small details to the print scale. Full detail keeps every modeled feature, for larger prints or a finer nozzle.
Colors
Buildings, roads, water and ground arrive as separate filament slots in the 3MF. Trump Palace Condominiums takes the building color.
File format
You get a 3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. Any of them can save it as STL if you need one.
