About Kitt Peak
Kitt Peak National Observatory is a United States astronomical observatory on Kitt Peak, in the Quinlan Mountains of the Arizona-Sonoran Desert. The site lies about 88 km (55 miles) west-southwest of Tucson, Arizona, on the Tohono Oʼodham Nation. Its first director, Aden B. Meinel, chose it in 1958 for a national observatory, and the Tohono Oʼodham lease the land under a perpetual agreement. The observatory was dedicated on March 16, 1960. Between the early 1980s and 2019 the National Optical Astronomy Observatory ran it, and NOIRLab oversaw it afterward.
Kitt Peak holds over twenty optical telescopes and two radio telescopes. WIYN's 3.5-meter telescope and the 4 meter Mayall telescope are the largest optical instruments, plus several smaller telescopes of the two- and one-meter classes. For many decades the McMath–Pierce solar telescope was the world's largest solar telescope, and also the largest unobstructed reflector, meaning no secondary mirror sits in the incoming light's path. The ARO 12m Radio Telescope is there too. When the observatory was dedicated in 1960, a 36-inch telescope and other facilities were in place, and first light came for the 84 inch (2.1 m) telescope in September 1964.
About these models
The 2 models on this page are among more than 2,300 landmark models in Mini Skyline. They are made with AI, and each one is checked from four sides in its real surroundings before release. Everything around them is built from OpenStreetMap and Overture map data. If you would rather print the shapes from map data, turn off Landmark models in the Buildings settings.

Common questions
Are these Kitt Peak landmark models free?
Yes. All 2 models on this page are free. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.
Can I download Kitt Peak landmark STL files?
Mini Skyline builds each file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.
How tall do the Kitt Peak landmarks print?
On the default 160 mm print they stand between about 9 and 16 mm tall. Each landmark grows with the print size, and Make this print opens the generator with its area already selected. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
