About Stockholm

Stockholm is Sweden's capital and most populous city, and no other urban area in the Nordic countries is larger. The city spans fourteen islands, at the point where Lake Mälaren empties into the Baltic Sea, with the Stockholm archipelago, an island chain, lying to the east. Settlers first arrived in the 6th millennium BC, during the Stone Age. Stockholm is the county seat of Stockholm County and the seat of the Swedish government. Stockholm Palace is the official residence of the Swedish monarch, and the Royal Family's private residence is Drottningholm Palace, in neighboring Ekerö.

Gamla Stan, the Old Town, is the oldest section of Stockholm; it lies on the small islands that held the city's earliest settlements and keeps its medieval street layout. A fire in 1697 destroyed the original medieval castle, and Stockholm Palace went up in the baroque style. The oldest building in the city is Riddarholmen Church, which dates to the late 13th century. Stockholm City Hall was built between 1911 and 1923 under the architect Ragnar Östberg. Sergels Torg, with five high-rise office towers, dates from the 1960s. Applying for building permits dates to the early 18th century, and the oldest permit is from 1713.

Common questions

Are these Stockholm landmark models free?

Yes. All 4 models on this page are free. Generation runs in your browser, with no account and nothing behind a paywall.

Can I download Stockholm landmark STL files?

Mini Skyline builds each file for you in your browser and exports 3MF, which every major slicer opens. If you need an STL, open the 3MF in your slicer and export it from there.

How tall do the Stockholm landmarks print?

On the default 160 mm print they stand between about 10 and 29 mm tall. Each landmark grows with the print size, and Make this print opens the generator with its area already selected. For a model larger than your printer bed, Project Mode splits the area into tiles.
